ARIZONA PARENTS CLUB NEWSLETTER
December Cookie Packing a huge success!!
Our December cookie packing was held on Saturday, December 8, 2001. We are grateful to Ruth Janzik who offered her home for this activity which was well attended by over twenty-five persons representing our cadet families. There was an abundance of cookies, candy, treats, etc. sent out to our cadets to help them study for finals.
The cookie packing was followed by a short meeting and a pot-luck lunch. After we packed the goodies for our cadets, all the remaining treats were mailed to USAFA for the benefit of the Cadets in all squadrons.
Many thanks to Ginny Schembri, who contributed wonderful, handmade cards from the students at Scottsdale Christian Academy, for our cadets. We have received a number of thank you notes from our grateful cadets who were touched by this warm display of affection from the children "back home".
Thank you to Linda O'Sullivan who has arranged for the Parent Club to have a contact person in Colorado Springs. This contact will graciously pick-up future cookie-packing shipments and deliver them to the Academy. Thanks also to Tom Grayson who will continue to arrange for the shipping of the boxes,
Many, many thanks to all who contribute time, goodies and money to this effort. We couldn't do this without you!!
The USAFA Parents'Arizona Club was host of the 2001 All- Academies Ball on December 29th at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel. This event was sold-out! It was well attended by members of all the Service Academies, Armed Forces, families and friends.
It was a magical evening of patriotism, moving awards, fine dining and dancing. Many thanks to Candi Prangley and Mary Ann Carpenter and their committee, who worked long and hard to organize this event. Thank you also to Ginny Schembri and her video committee who produced an outstanding and touching video enjoyed by all.
There are a number of 2001 All-Academies Ball champagne/wine glasses still available for purchase. You may call Candi Prangley at 480-730-9178, if you are interested in purchasing these elegant commemorative glasses.
