PARENT WEEKEND BUFFET
Back by popular demand!!! The USAFA AZ Parents Club would like to invite all Arizona parents to attend our Parents Weekend Buffet Supper. This buffet dinner is hosted by the Parents Club and is held in a convenient location close to the Academy. Parents will have a place to go and have a nice dinner after a tiring day of attending classes with their cadet. The supper gives us a place to relax and unwind, without the hassles of traffic, long restaurant lines and crowds. So, for good food and the chance to meet other Arizona parents and their cadets, come join us! We are planning to have a photographer present for parents that would like a photo with their cadet and family!

ALL ACADEMIES BALL
The AZ USAFA Parent Club will host this event on December 29, 2001 at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel, Dunlap & I-17.
Music, dancing, great food...what a marvelous way to celebrate the Holidays with our cadets and families! Please mark your calendars. More information will be given in future newsletters.
E-MAIL ADDRESSES
We are part of the electronic age! We often send bulletins via e-mails to those members that have an e-mail address. It is fast and convenient. And it helps us keep the expenses of photocopying, and postage for mailing the "traditional" way down to a reasonable amount. We need our members to keep us informed of any changes in their e-mail addresses. You may contact our club Vice-Presidents, MaryAnne& Neal Carpenter at (480) 838- 4302, with changes in your address. Thank you.
(We will still send a "paper" copy of any news to members that don't have an e-mail address)
FORMS MAILED WITH THE MAY NEWSLETTER
The Club secretary is in the process of updating the cadet, and family rosters. Our May newsletter contained various forms for you to fill out. Please take the time to look at these and mail them back to us. We update our rosters every year. When you send in your membership forms and cadet roster forms we have the most current information for our files.
CADET ROSTER FORMS
We need to update our cadet roster for all of our AZ cadets (USAFA Parent Club members & non-members). Our May& Dec. boxes of treats are sent to the Cadet's squadrons, not their P.O. boxes. If we don't have the correct information, your cadet will not receive the items we send them. (Cadets in the Class of 2004 have changed squadrons for the academic year 2001).
(Also, if your cadet is no longer at the Academy, kindly, if possible, let us know. We do not wish to burden you with unnecessary mailings and the information will be kept in confidence. We do not receive this information from USAFA).
Please send your cadet rosters to Liz Montes, 4523 E. Hearn Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85032. Thank you.
PARENTS CLUB MEMBERSHIP
If you haven't joined the Air Force Academy Parents Club, please consider doing so. The purpose of the Parents Club is two-fold:
1) To support all Arizona young people who receive appointments and attend the Academy or Prep. School.
2) To support the Arizona families who have a Cadet at the Academy or Prep. School.
3) The club sends boxes of goodies twice a year to the Arizona Cadets. Once, during finals before Christmas break, and again during spring finals. The Club participates in the annual Holiday All Academies Ball, sends gifts to graduating seniors of Club members, hosts the Doolie Send-Off Dinner, the Parent's Send-Off Breakfast, and the Parent Weekend Buffet.
Most importantly, Parent Club members are there to support and encourage cadets and their parents when they encounter difficult times. The strength of this club is solely dependent on the strength of its membership. The more members we have, the stronger the club will be.
Dues cover, among other things, postage, newsletters, cookie packing goodies and supplies, gifts for graduating seniors, funding for the All Services Holiday Ball, etc.
We urge you to become a member or renew your membership, if you haven't already done so.
The following is the list of families with current memberships. If you are not on this list, your membership is not up to date, as per our files. If you have any questions please call Liz Montes at 602-788-1730:

Class 2005
The Hulse family has contributed impressive information regarding Basic Cadet Katherine Hulse's achievements during her school years:
"Katherine was active in student government, was a member of National Honor Society, was a Rotary Student of the Month, and was chosen as the Arizona Republic Athlete of the Month. She was chosen for 3 years Centennial's Most Valuable Girl diver, was 3 time State 4A Diving Champion, volunteered at Thunderbird Samaritan Hospital, and received the Young woman Recognition Award for her Church. She is a great friend, sister and daughter!!!"
Thank you, David and Geri, for your contribution to our Cadet news. Katherine is a fine example of our select group of students entering USAFA this year!
Congratulations to all of our Basic Cadets, Class of 2005, as you begin your journey at USAFA. You are part of an outstanding group of young men and women, the "Cream of the Crop". We wish you the best!
